follow the path of least resistance: no-border access to life support
Watersheds is about Water and related issues.
Just as ridge lines are sometimes easy to see and accept, watersheds can be “natural” boundaries defining political limits. However, water, water-related problems and political decisions are not stopped by borders drawn by administrative decisions.
Conjuncture
Watersheds is about cross-boarders collaboration, it’s about investigation, it’s about sharing knowledge and building knowledge together, it’s decolonization.
Water is not a matter of nationalism, it is not limited to administrative borders and standards; it is not the prerogative of human laws or wars.
Use this category
The #Watersheds
category is launched in 2024 on the occasion of O₄FFDEM . It is as much an invitation to join a theme, water, and to collaborate together - taking care of our differences and diversities to enrich each other.
You can use Watersheds to label different posts / topics / threads in the OFFDEM Oxygen forum. (Find more about tags here)
Using category & tags makes it much more convenient to:
- enable people visiting the forum to find discussions/projects/work more quickly,
- engage collaboration,
- make it easier to find discussions,
- index information more efficiently,
- reuse and modify tagged content more easily.
Access to safe, drinking water is a human-right!
Water is not the privilege of human beings alone.
Our daily lives depend on water, and we pour the residues of our daily lives into that water.
Leisure activities, agriculture, factories, datacenters, electronics components, the construction and demolition of buildings and roads, Climate, so on and so forth. Everything depends on water.
Where does it come from
This proposal is shaping from some contributions:
- Water Creative Sessions – Exposing The Invisible (Investigation) & Hack₂O (Hacktivism)
- Water Creative Sessions
Why should people use this category? What is it for?
Make your posts on this forum more explicit and easier to link to others.
For example, the water consumption of the Internet industry put in the #Watersheds
category will be made “reliable” to people who want to discuss public policy on e-waste.
As another example, people interested in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) will be able to help in #Watersheds
: Make a request to the relevant authority to find out how many liters of water are used by a GAMAFIA datacentre or by a mine in your village.
What should topics in this category generally contain?
- You wanna find local folks or international collabs / support?
- You wanna organize a reverse engineering on Rapid diagnostic tests or RDTs are lateral flow immuno-chromatographic tests session in cave?
- You wanna start an investigation? A protest?
- You wanna collaborate on Free Libre Open Source tools or building some?
- You wanna document Wrong Doings and/or Kleptocrats?
- So on and so forth

Can we merge with another category, or subcategory?
We favor meetings and discussions, so that we can approach the decision-making process with a sense of serenity and collaboration.
Merging with existing categories and/or using other subcategories is technically feasible. It will be up to the people involved in these meetings and discussions to take responsibility.
