We are kindly inviting you to the Kompot UNconference taking place on saturday, 23. november at 13:00 @ PLAC, a squat in Ljubljana, Slovenia which you can find on Linhartova street 43.
The unconference marks 5th year of (co)operation of our self-organised librehosting collective, Kompot. We host autonomous free and open source web/internet services to contribute to the autonomous internet commons independent of GAFAM corporations and other malign actors chaining users their profit/power driven provisions. Our main, in-person activities are cooperations (“sodelovalnice”), informative and practical skill-sharing sessions, reading books together and technically supporting other local collectives.
The unconference (which is a concept likely familiar to most readers of this post)
is an event with an open program co-created by attendees and decided upon in detail and discussed in the beginning of the event by all parties present. Themes can be contributed upfront in the following pad: Kompot dekonferenca ob 5 obletnici ustanovitve - HedgeDoc
It’s in slovenian but feel free to add anything in english / ask about the current proposals, which for now cover:
- federating events and reading interests
- #BeYouOwnPlatform - radical digital autonomy for musicians, artists and all others
- discussion: diversity, safer spaces - how to enable a more FLINTA*-friendly kompot?
- Drafting a common prograssive stance on artificial intelligence
- (local) state of FOSSH
- Hackerspace in PLAC
- Kompot activities / achievements
- Sharing public keys / verification + anonymity → pseudonimity!
Admission is free but you are welcome to give a donation for buying logs to keep the PLAC warm. You can also bring your own logs. Food (vegan) and drinks shall be there, which includes home-baked bread, vegan ričet (I don’t know how to translate this so instead see the generic photo provided below) and more.
We welcome everyone who wonder about how to lead our digital lives differently, outside GAFAM monopolies. How to block youtube ads? Prior knowledge is no requirement for attendance, interest shall be satiated. Celebrate with us, let’s warm up PLAC together.
